Spaces as Voice Teachers

This is an individual artistic practice that Mareike Dobewall developed during her PhD studies at Stockholm University of the Arts.

Architectural spaces guide Mareike Dobewall´s vocal learning and training. Listening with the whole body is an integral part of this practice. The knowledge that is acquired is embodied. The spaces co-develop and expand Mareike´s repertoire for vocal expression. The material, that can be considered native to the spaces where it was found, develops through her continuous practice, and finds way into her music compositions.
